Piaget Scientifc Award

We draw to your attention the Piaget Scientific Award for young scientists who are in the process of finishing, or have recently finished their PhD. The successful applicant is given the chance to pursue his/her own research within one of EPFL’s lab during a one year post-doctoral fellowship. The award is highly selective. Every application is evaluated by an International Scientific Committee that will examine the quality PhD work done by the applicant, its innovative and ground-breaking nature as well as its potential for future research.

The Piaget Scientific Award is awarded every two years. The next deadline for applicants will be May, 31st of 2019.

In the frame of Collegium SMYLE, a support could be given, through advices for your application or/and financial support for short mission in the EPFL Laboratory you want to join.

Description:

This Award is a prestigious fellowship organized by EPFL and sponsored by Piaget that aims at supporting outstanding and groundbreaking research in the broad field of miniaturization and microengineering.

Examples of topics of interest are (but not limited to):

– Advanced micro-manufacturing, such as new: Laser-processing, MEMS processes, 3D micro-printing, Additive micro-manufacturing,and any other new innovative micro-manufacturing process.
– Material behaviour at the smaller scale
– Smart materials suitable for micro-mechanics
– Miniaturisation in mechanical design and innovative micro-mechanical concepts
– Tribology at the microscale
– New micro-assembly concepts
– Micro-actuators (excluding electrical/electronics/ICs)
